Song Premiere - Beached Boy "Hold Me Down"

Put some SPF 100 on these songs because they are sizzlin'.

It’s a new music kind of day. Amiright? Emerging from the depths of Allston with a press release soaked in puns, arrives the premiere of "Hold Me Down" off the 4-song debut EP 'Open Island' by self-proclaimed marina rock band, Beached Boy.

Comprised of singer/songwriter Brendan Grafe, Kevin DeStefano (Bad Actors), Harley Cox (Choke Up) and Will Buiel (Kitner), Beached Boy has taken Grafe’s acoustic emo material, backed it with a driving ensemble of pop punk origins and created an accelerated, scorched and scorned summer sound. Learn these lyrics because you’ll be shouting them alongside your friends at the next Beached Boy show.

Let’s party. Check out 'em out during their record release show July 1st at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston featuring Luau, Clever Girls (VT), Saccharine and Jeff Rowe (event details). 'Open Island' will be available via cassette and digital download June 30th via Prospect Records. Follow Beached Boy on Facebook for additional release information.

Song Premiere: “A Girl From Quincy” by Art Thieves

'For Free!' will be available for free download on December 31st.

It is with our unwavering pleasure that we present to you “A Girl From Quincy” by Art Thieves.

Working on their material under the radar, Bishop & Rook caught Art Thieves earlier this year in their natural South Shore habitat (RIP Beachcomber) and gave our stamp of approval. It was the band’s on stage chemistry and thoroughly entertaining live set that later earn them a spot in the Boston Scene Party Showcase.

“A Girl From Quincy” is off the band’s debut 10-track record entitled ‘For Free!’, available as a free digital download on December 31st. Listen to a few per-released songs on Soundcloud now. See Art Thieves on February 13th at O'Brien’s Pub in Allston with Warn the Duke (NYC), The Warning Shots, and You Scoundrel. And follow the band on Facebook for additional release and show information.

It’s a Brenefit Show – Benefit Show for Trophy Lungs’ Drummer Brendan Guerin

Intimate space, burgers, beers, punk rock and unisex bathrooms.

Hey kids, let’s go to a benefit show. Before you start thinking “Monday night, SMH”, understand Charlie's Kitchen ONLY hosts live music on Monday nights, and it’s a pretty damn awesome time.

One day before Boston punks, Trophy Lungs, returned from tour, drummer Brendan Guerin received news that his apartment in Jamaica Plain (that he moved into less than a month ago) caught on fire. Although everyone made it out okay, water and structural damage rendered the apartment unstable and emergency relocation was a must.

The scene came together and to form the Brenefit Show at Charlie’s Kitchen (10 Eliot Street, Harvard Square, Cambridge) featuring Trophy Lungs, Save Ends, Fucko and Rebuilder (essentially, it's an O'Brien's show, but at Charlie's). The evening also serves as a send of for some bands heading to FEST14. Charlie’s Kitchen is 21+ // $5 cover // 8PM // Facebook event link. Additional donations accepted throughout the night. Every dollar that comes through the door goes directly to helping Bren and his girlfriend Kerri find a new place/pay outrageous moving fees.

Feelings, Fuck Off - 'Bite Because You Like It'

“Don’t talk to me. I don’t want to be your dream girl. Men already rule the world and that’s bad enough. So why don’t you just let me read my book in peace without you hitting on me?”
-“PSA”

When you’ve had enough. When feeling feelings is too much (“feelings, fuck off”) – there’s ‘Bite Because You Like It’.

The follow up to 2014’s ‘you two can spend a special time respect even such the tiny moment OR “Little My Goes to Thailand”’, New Hampshire’s female-fronted pop punk trio My Little is back with a record that is spunky, refreshing and sung with an honest attitude.

Backed by independent Iowa label, Bloated Kat Records, a pop punk label run out of a the basement of this unemployed dude who is practically 30's parents and that has a fondness for female-fronted pop punk bands such as you Jabber (CA) and Lipstick Homicide (IA), ‘Bite Because You Like It’ is a 12-track song including an instrumental intro and interlude. Stream / download the record on Bandcamp. Our recommended jams: "Afflicted" "PSA", "Don’t Stare" and "Friends Forever".

Catch My Little at Middle East Upstairs with Worriers (NY), Fucko (NH) and Gravel on September 22nd, presented by RTT Presents. This event is 18+ / $8 / details here.

Yeehaw! Gets! Punk! With! Rock! Songs!

Grab your copy of 'Rock Songs' now on Bandcamp.

Short, surly and catchy as fuck - Yeehaw! picks up the pace with a more refined and cohesive pop punk sound on their sophomore EP ‘Rock Songs’.

Evolving songs like “What Now” and “Pixie” from the 2014 record ‘Demotivational Speaker’, the gritty and punchy 7-track ‘Rock Songs’ is packed with post-adolescent blues and plows through 13 minutes and 41 seconds with enough effort to articulate how Berklee expensive university degrees can get you about as far as your parents’ couch.

With a comparable sound to mid-era Pulley or Lagwagon, more often than not, we’ve thought, “What does this song sound like? Oh, it sounds like a Yeehaw! song.” Written by a young band, the lyrics reflect the early stages of realizing the majority of people you know will forgo big dreams for reasonable lifestyles. Just wait until those people start to live vicariously through you and ask if you’ve been to a "rock concert" lately while their eyes glaze over with any vague attempt of yours to explain what you do. I digress.

The EP is available on Bandcamp for free (at a name your price donation). But throw the kids a couple bucks, it’s a good record and we heard Sallie Mae is an aggressive pimp. Cassette tapes can be purchased for $4 via Broken World Media.

The band will celebrate their record release and the kickoff to their Summer! Tour! this Friday, July 24th at The Democracy Center in Harvard Square with Just Friends, Perspective, A Lovely Hand to Hold, Choke Up and Hoover Flags (event details here). Follow Yeehaw! on Facebook and Twitter for additional information.

Overseas, Diger, Old Flings and Camiches Release International 4-way Split

Costa Rican pop punk bands Overseas and Diger have collaborated with Old Flings (NC) and Camiches (Mexico City) to release an international DIY 4-way split.

A combination of networking and touring brought these four bands together. “Overseas and Diger share the same drummer. I'm booking a Central American tour for Camiches in July and they’re booking a Mexican tour for Overseas and Diger in September,” explains Overseas bassist, Alejandro Guerrero. As for the American band, “We played the same show [with Old Flings] in Montreal in 2014 at Pouzza Fest, as soon as the idea of the split came out I contacted them and they really liked it.”

The unique record contains four tracks, layered in English and Spanish, created by bands with similar sounds and a desire to spread awareness of new music from various countries.

4 Way Split can be downloaded for free on Bandcamp.
