Five Boston Bands to See in October

Friends tell friends about good music. Five Boston bands to see before the end of the month.

Friends tell friends about good music, and hey, you seem cool. Out of the DOZENS of shows happening this month, we’ve pulled five must-see Boston bands you need to catch in person before the end of October. So immerse yourself in cultural activities, sleep when you're dead and go to a local show.

Zip-Tie Handcuffs
Thursday, October 16th
O’Brien’s Pub – Allston
RSVP

The psychedelic garage band, Zip-Tie Handcuffs, will be at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston on Thursday, October 16th, melting faces and playing out songs from their upcoming LP Sundream in anticipation for their record release show on November 4th.

Choke Up
Friday, October 17th
Great Scott – Allston
RSVP

Hands down, no contest, we stake our reputation on it (which is a thing Google Analytics is leading me to believe exists) one of the most talented bands in Boston right now is the screaming, hard rocking, all around nice dudes of Choke Up. The band we previously alluded to as “the most beautiful punk rock [we’ve] heard in a long time,” Choke Up will be playing Great Scott along with Silver Screams and Only Crime on Friday, October 17th.

Dinoczar
Tuesday, October 21st
Midway Café – Jamaica Plain
RSVP

The sludge rock sounds of Dinoczar can be heard alongside the quirky stylings of Bent Shapes on Tuesday, October 21st at Midway Café in Jamaica Plain. Get acquainted with the band and download their energetic 8-song EP, Bloody Bobcat, for free (with a suggested donation) via Bandcamp.

Raw Blow
Monday, October 27th
O’Brien’s Pub – Allston
RSVP

It’s a record release show y'all! The incredibly raw and powerful side of Boston’s Raw Blow (I see what you did there) will be exposed to the world during the celebratory release of the band’s upcoming EP, Slow Choke. Get your faces rocked off by heavy hitting songs with abrupt endings on Monday, October 27th at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston.

Lesser Knowns
Tuesday, October 28th
Church of Boston
RSVP

Finish off the month with some classic blues infused rock n’ roll with New Bedford’s Lesser Knowns. Currently in the process of releasing a series of EPs in lieu of a single full length, Lesser Knowns will be "introducing the band" at Church of Boston on Tuesday, October 28th. You can download the first set of tracks for free on Bandcamp now.
