Foreign Tongues To Release Local EP

Sweet Empathy Leaving Me available April 8th on Youth Conspiracy Records.

Despite Foreign Tongues’ singer Cameron Moretti announcing, “This will be our last show for a while,” during the Wrong Body Record Release party at O’Brien’s Pub (Allston) last Friday (3/14), Moretti clarifies that the band is not going anywhere, and his statement was more of the literal sense.

“We just haven’t booked any more shows yet,” explained Moretti, who had experienced a skateboarding accident earlier, rendering him situated on a barstool during his performance, which fortuitously created a more intimate set.

Boston’s emotional indie rock band is in fact anticipating the release of their new 7” Sweet Empathy Leaving Me, to be co-released by boutique vinyl label, Youth Conspiracy Records (OH) and Veggie Co. Records (CT). The third EP from Foreign Tongues features two new songs produced by Defeater’s Jay Mass and mastered for vinyl by Moving Mountains’ Gregory Dunn. The release will be available April 8th on extremely limited-edition vinyl as well as digitally.

Youth Conspiracy’s Big Cartel site is offering pre-orders of Sweet Empathy Leaving Me as a solo product (limited to 300 random color vinyl) and as part of a bundle with the 2012 Foreign Tongues/Ghost Thrower split (available on blue, yellow or classic black). Ghost Thrower incidentally played Friday night as well, and also announced it would be their last show for a while, but meant it, as their drummer and co-founder, Chris Fernandes, moves to L.A later this spring.

Every order of Sweet Empathy Leaving Me placed before April 8th is entered to win a test pressing of the 7”, limited to five copies. Watch the official music video for the A side track "Wishing Well", that premiered on The AV Club, below.

Hang out with Foreign Tongues during their Record Release Show April 11th at Matthew’s Pub in Portland, Maine with Swamp Water, Pleasure Gap and Travis Alexander of Ghost Thrower. $5/9pm/21+. While you’re up there, go eat at Duck Fat. You are welcome. Follow Foreign Tongues on Facebook and Twitter for additional show dates and stream their previous records on Bandcamp.
