Alternative Gym Albums

In anticipation of everyone failing at their new year's resolutions mid January, I thought I'd better get this out sooner than later. Aside from my guilty pleasure downloads that I cannot purchase in face to face transactions for fear I will lose all creditability if any were to exist in the first place, I prefer to bust it out at the gym to songs sans Jay-Z and Justin Bieber. Here are my top seven alternative albums for the gym.

Good gym music. Alternative albums for maximum physical fitness off my attitude playlist.

The Prodigy - Fat of the Land

Champion for the longest playing album on my gym mix, I've trained and ran road races for over a decade with The Prodigy's Fat of the Land and haven't gotten tired of it yet. As invigorating as the day I first heard Voodoo People in Hackers.

Rocket From the Crypt - Live From Camp X-Ray

I found my copy of Live From Camp X-Ray in the $3 bin at my local record store. Score slash sad story because this is a great album. Listen to Bring Us Bullets and tell me you don't want to run a bit harder. TELL ME!

Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come

Hands down one of the most kick ass records one can listen to while getting their bad self into shape. New Noise is by far THE song to get you to push yourself farther. Song is quite epic.

Rodrigo y Gabriela - 11:11

Do I remember where I first heard of Rodrigo y Gabriela? No clue. But I do know this instrumental import is FAN-TAS-TIC to run to. High tempo guitars and trancey melodies let you zone out while keeping rhythm. Also good for background music during margarita parties.

The Hives - The Black and White Album

To be honest, I think any Hives record would be good in this list. Swedish men make me sweat. Everyday.

We Are Scientists - With Love and Squalor

OMFG, not only the most adorable album cover to look at, With Love and Squalor is the only We Are Scientists record to ever be loved by me, with The Great Escape being a permanent song on my 5 mile run playlist. They got all sexified/disco after this album. Should have stuck with kittens my friends.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell

I don't care what you say, working out with a sexy girl yelling in my ear just motivates me to go harder.
