The Clacking Ratchet Sounds of The Boston Typewriter Orchestra

It's exactly what you think it is.

Jeff Breeze, the proprietor of WMBR 88.1 FM’s live, local music segment Pipeline (Tuesday evenings 8-10) has his own side gig, and it’s not what you would expect, but it's exactly what you think it is.

Founded in 2004, The Boston Typewriter Orchestra (BTO) is a creative outlet for an ensemble of avant garde music making enthusiasts engaging in rhythmic typewriter manipulation combined with elements of performance, comedy and satire. Breeze, along with 6 additional musicians bang, tap and push their machines in what could be considered The Administrative Professional Series of STOMP.

You can pre-order their latest creation, Termination Without Prejudice, Volume 1 as a 10” EP vinyl for $15 (ships out on or around June 1) or digital album for $5. Peruse the rest of their Bandcamp page to discover an additional 2 EPs, 2 LPs and a handful of singles and demos.

BTO has been gaining media cover in preparation for their latest EP, including a recent highlight on Great Big Story, a global media company devoted to cinematic storytelling. Get acquainted with the group below courtesy of GBS and follow The Boston Typewriter Orchestra on Facebook for additional information include upcoming shows.
