No Excuses Gym Motivation

I love the gym. I'm also the queen of "I don't wanna". So how do I drag my butt the center of fitness each week? Part persuasion, a hint of guilt, and a whole lot of love for the results. Refresh your outlook on the gym with these motivational tips.

Get in shape for your upcoming event
Aside from all the weddings and public appearances this year, I have a 10-year high school reunion. Bitch please! I'm going to look effing fabulous for that. I mean, nothing can help my clumsiness and aptitude for drinking too much wine, so something's gotta be working for me that night.

Make yourself has healthy and beautiful as possible

Wear bright colors
It has been scientifically proven that bright colors make you feel happy. There is something psychological about sweating it in a fuchsia/neon number verses washed out gray. You just feel happier, faster and prettier. Clean your bathroom in gray, work out in pink.

Customize your Nike Free Run
to be as bold and bright as you

Listen to new music
I buy new music all.the.time and never really have a chance to listen to albums in their entirety. So I'm absolutely motivated to press play and hit the treadmill. See my top 7 alternative gym albums.

is perfect for the gym

Don't waste money
You're already paying for your membership, don't lose that $10-15 a month. Note - If you're paying more than that and still need motivation, you should seriously reconsider your finances, clearly you're not benefiting from your pricey club.

You're wasting your money if you don't go

Results, results, results
If you stay committed, eat right and use the equipment correctly, you will see results. The gym is not an overnight miracle drug, nor is it something that "works" for some and not for others. When you are able to look in the mirror and say, "Look at that ass!" or better yet, when your significant other can say that, you won't need much more motivation to keep up your fitness routine.

It doesn't happen over night for anyone

Create a Pinterest board
I want nothing more than to climb into bed after a long work day, so it really helps to pull up my Pinterest board "Gym Motivation-It's Not the Bikini's Fault" and reassure myself that it's just an hour. Hell, you'll probably spend an hour flipping channels, so why not make that time more productive?

Do the test
Take your arm and punch the air. Do you have grandma jiggle? Ewww grandma jiggle, you should probably fix that.

  1. I use a lot of these tips myself! Another one that works for me is classes (my gym offers them free).

    1. Yes, totally! Also, if I go to the gym on the weekdays, I can justify eating like a frat kid on the weekends =)
